NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope arrives at the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Sunday, June 21, 2026, to begin prelaunch processing. NASA designed Roman to survey billions of galaxies, assemble the most comprehensive 3D map of the universe to probe dark matter and dark energy, and expand the census of exoplanets using multiple detection techniques. Roman's main instrument is a 300-megapixel infrared camera that will give Roman the same resolution as the Hubble Space Telescope, but with a field of view at least 100 times larger. Roman is named after the agency’s first chief astronomer, Dr. Nancy Grace Roman, who was a driving force behind NASA’s entire Great Observatories program, which included Hubble.
