Artemis II will launch four astronauts on a mission around the Moon no earlier than April 1, 2026. The approximately ten-day mission begins with a launch on the SLS (Space Launch System) rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, embarks on a lunar flyby, and ends with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. The purpose of the mission is to certify the life support systems aboard the Orion spacecraft for future Artemis missions and Moon landings.
